Suzanne
Morgan Wilkins earned her B.A. and I.M.A. degrees in Art Education from
the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She taught art in Charleston,
Richland and Lexington county schools until 1991. During those years,
it was her love of teaching talented and gifted workshops that prompted
her to build "Holly Cove Studio" in 1993, adjacent to her
home on Lake Murray in South Carolina. Here she teaches various workshops
and creates her own paintings. Suzanne paints in oils and acrylics, but prefers acrylics because this fast-drying, brilliant medium best suits her bold, expressive style. Suzanne recently participated in an exhibition of Lexington County
artists at the Columbia Museum of Art (Spring 2005). She has also exhibited
at various galleries and bistros in North Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia, the Carribean and Costa Rica, where she has a 2nd home. It
is here, and from her many international travels with her husband and
two sons, that she draws much of her inspiration for her work. "I
experience a feast for the eyes in these beautiful locales, and this
translates onto the canvas, a wide variety of subject matter...from
flora and fauna to still lifes, landscapes, native people and architecture".
